The Grumpy Cook Sunday Starters Scheme

The Grumpy Cook is excited to announce its most ambitious project yet for 16-19 year olds. We are handing over the running of our cafe on Sundays to our local teenagers. We will provide comprehensive training in all aspects of Front of House, and if the Kitchen interests you, we can also train you to create our menu and some of our baking recipes.

For those selected, you will receive training in Customer Service, using our till and barista equipment. Those interested in the kitchen will be guided through our menu and trained to deliver it to the required standard. Throughout your training, a permanent member of staff will be available to provide help and advice.

After completing your six-month training period, you will work Sundays and be paid.

Following your six months, you will have the opportunity to train new recruits and become their mentors. At the end of your nine-month training period, you will graduate, and we will do our utmost to secure you paid work, whether it’s part-time or full-time, in the town or 

surrounding area.

This scheme is currently open to The Grumpy Cook in Hastings.
